Memorable Memories of C.W.S.S.E.C at Utkal University, Orissa, India.

Over 1.3 million people die on the world’s roads each year due to road accidents and injure or disable as many as 50 million more and 1/3rd of these victims are young people under the age of 25 yrs. It is the leading cause of death globally among young people aged between 10-24 years.

The current world population includes an estimated 1.2 billion young people between the ages of 15 and 24 years. More or less 54% of the 1.18 billion Indians are less than 25yrs old and a 3rd of the population have not even reached the age of 15yrs. Accidents deaths in India-the highest in the World at 1.18 lakh as per World Bank. There are more or less 70 million disable people in India. One in every ten children or 3% of the country’s total child population also falls in this category. Students are the strength of the society and children are the future care taker of the Country.

In response to UN’s Resolution for Road Safety and welcoming the decision of GTCS’s Decade of Action for Road Safety 2010-2020 in India, “Nation Wide Intellectual Meet to Reduce Road Risk and Make Roads Safe” under the umbrella organization of Global Training and Consultancy Services launched “Countrywide Student Skill (Essay) Contest” on the most important and vital topic “Role and Responsibility of Youth to Reduce Road Risk” on the occasion of “UTKAL DIVAS”, on Friday, 1st April 2011 from the pulpit of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, with the golden touch of Prof. (Dr.) Binayak Rath, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and Hony. Executive Member of N.W.I.M, aiming to share student’s innovative practical views & ideas, experiences, successes & challenges with a goal to save lives, a venture for victory over the road safety crisis in India.

A seminar on Road Safety was also organized amidst a galaxy of Intellectuals and students by NWIM jointly with Utkal University in response to “International Year of Youth” as proclaimed by UN in the august presence of Respected Chairman of NWIM, Mr. S.S Tarafdar, World renowned management scientiest, crisis and cost control expert, Founder President of National Material Handling Council, Secatary General World Safety Congress.
