National Material Handling Council (Regd)
The National Material Handling Council (Regd) was founded by Mr. S.S. Tarafdar as its founder president during the year 1980 with the knowledge and blessings of the strongest women of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the then Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, drawing the person from all disciplines of various G.O.I & Non-G.O.I organizations and institutions from different parts of the country with an idea to develop the indigenous science and technology specially in the field of material handling science, industrial relations and safety to enhance the production & productivity, their by developing and strengthening the economic position of the country.
The National Material Handling Council (Regd) is the first of its kind in India and third in the World is an autonomous body and purely nonprofit making fast growing technological organization registered under Registration Act No. 21 of 1860. When Padma Bhushan Mr. G.L. Tandon, Mr. M.R.R. Nair and Mr. S.L. Khosla, Mr. Sankar Sen, IPS, were the Chairman of Coal India Limited, Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited, Chairman of Oil & Natural Gas Commission Ltd and the director General of National Human Right Commission, Government of India respectively, had extended their all help and cooperation as the vice president of National Material Handling Council.
